Click Flooring or Dry Back Flooring?

Underfloor heating has become the standard in many modern homes across the Netherlands. The good news is that both Click SPC and Dry Back flooring are fully compatible with underfloor heating—but they offer different advantages.

Dry Back Flooring – Maximum Heat Transfer

At only 2.5 mm thick, Dry Back flooring is installed directly onto the subfloor with adhesive. This direct contact allows heat to transfer into the room more efficiently, making it the preferred choice for many new-build homes and professional installations.

Click Flooring – Greater Comfort & Better Acoustics

Click SPC flooring is typically 5–7 mm thick and comes with an integrated IXPE underlay.

Because it is thicker than Dry Back flooring, heat transfer is slightly less direct. However, once the floor reaches its operating temperature, it provides a warmer and more comfortable walking experience while also offering excellent sound insulation.

Living in an Apartment?

Many modern apartments in the Netherlands have acoustic requirements set by the building or homeowners' association (VvE).

If sound insulation is important, we generally recommend Click SPC flooring with an integrated IXPE underlay. The additional thickness and underlay help reduce impact noise, creating a quieter living environment while still performing very well with underfloor heating.
